The Challenge

In 2015, a hydraulic hose burst on a material handling machine, quickly engulfing the machine, although remarkably the fire didn't spread to the waste around it. The machine was a complete loss, costing them an insurance excess of £50K.

Our Solution

We discussed managing their risks in future and discovered that their insurance company would reduce their excess from £50K to £5K if the new machines were protected by a FM approved vehicle fire suppression system.

We installed a twin agent system to existing material handlers and a new Liebherr 924 system through the factory. We supported these with a bespoke service contract and on-site training for operators.

The Result

By fitting an FM approved vehicle fire suppression system, we reduced their insurance excess from £50K to £5K.
